A Saturday afternoon at Berlin’s Weichselplatz: some smile as they walk by, others tap their feet to the rhythm, while a few sit down on the wooden benches to listen. When the Weichsel Sharks step off the canal boat and start playing, hearts open. We love the music of the Great American Songbook – timeless jazz and swing pieces that have told stories of love, hope and life for more than 80 years.
Our Musicians & Story
We studied music at the University of the Arts in Berlin and now work as professional musicians in various international projects. Yet music is more than our profession – it’s our passion. We met privately, without any commercial intent, simply to play music together in the sun at Weichselplatz. Soon, passersby began asking to book us directly from the park. So we came up with a name, printed cards, and created this homepage: Voilà – the Weichsel Sharks were born.
The Weichsel Sharks Family
Our musical journey began as a jazz trio with Viktor on saxophone, Tim on bass and Martin on drums. As some of us tour regularly, we’ve grown into a small family of musicians – the Weichsel Sharks Collective. Each instrument now has multiple players, and we also perform with vocals featuring Michèle. What remains constant across all lineups is our joy in playing and our shared repertoire.
