A Saturday afternoon at Berlin’s Weichselplatz. When the Weichsel Sharks climb out of the Landwehr Canal and play in their regular spot, no heart is left untouched. We love the music of the American Songbook: jazz and swing tunes that have been telling stories of love, hope and heartache for more than 80 years without ever becoming a cliché.
In the beginning there was a saxophone Our musicians & their story
We studied music at the Berlin University of the Arts and have been working internationally as professional musicians in various projects ever since. But music is much more than our job – it is what moves us and makes us happy. So we also met up privately, with no professional ambitions, in the finest weather at Weichselplatz to make music together. More and more passers-by wanted to book us right there on the spot, so we needed a name, business cards and this website: voilà, the Weichsel Sharks were born.

We started our musical adventure as a jazz trio with Viktor on saxophone, Tim on bass and Martin on drums. As someone is often away on tour, we have grown into a small Weichsel Sharks family in which every instrument is covered by several players. With Michèle we also offer a quartet version with vocals. What has stayed the same in every line-up is the joy of playing and our shared repertoire.
